GSSC Classification Services

Classification services cover organizational design, development of organization and job design tools and analytics. GSSC serves as focal point for ICSC common system organizational design projects and provides capacity building of HR practitioners on organization design and job evaluation.

Its portfolio includes the following centralized functions:

  • Classification of job profiles for all contractual modalities
  • Provision of technical expertise in development of pre-classified and standard job profiles
  • Maintenance repositories of generic Job Descriptions/TORs

Job Classification is done through job evaluation, which is a mechanism for determining the grade level of each position in the organization, on the basis of the clearly established criteria, and for ensuring that positions with the same level of responsibilities and accountabilities are graded at the same level. The job evaluation process also provides information about the nature and content of jobs, thereby facilitating other Human Resources Management processes.
